“What a fantastic trip! The water is the perfect temperature — it’s a super La Niña. There were so many Galapagos sharks at Dos Amigos Pequeno, and the best place for hammerheads this week was Dirty Rock.” — Shmulik Blum, CEO DeepSee submarine
Now for the trip highlights:
All week we enjoyed immaculate weather and incredibly clear visibility at Cocos Island! The star dive site for the second expedition in a row was… Small Dos Amigos! It was just on fire. We saw dozens of Galapagos coming in from all sides, as well as hammerheads and a giant Pacific manta ray.
At Dirty Rock we encountered schools of hammerheads out in the blue, and huge quantities of fish in front of the first cleaning station. There were also two well-camouflaged frogfish just a few centimeters apart. We saw silky sharks near the surface at Alcyone, and hammerheads throughout Manuelita Coral Garden.
Each day we went down with the DeepSee (check out our Pilot’s report for more details!), and toward the end of the trip we disembarked at Chatham Bay and hiked to the Cerro Aguacate lookout point.
Hammer heads , galapagos sharks, pacific mantas Dos amigos and dirty rock. Words cannot describe the experience we have had on board. From the crew who have been exceptional, and all the techincal equipment that you take care of with such precison. The submersible is a spaceship of the deep sea. Argo has given us memories that will last a life time, a life changing trip. We never take these moments for granted and cant thank you all enough for your professionalism and safety. We will be back for some more adventures soon.
Dos Amigos pequeño was mind blowing! Dirty Rock not far from it and the rest were world class as always. Everything was great! Super friendly staff, great timings and great energy overall…
