Hello everyone,
Dives with the DeepSee submarine never cease to surprise us, and this trip was no different.
On our dives to 300m/1000ft there was so much life within every layer of the water column.
Mobula rays, hammerheads, silky sharks, a potential thresher shark ?!?!, and yellowfin tunas came swinging in curiously for a visit.
On the wall, loads of jellynose fish, groupers, crabs, anthias and more entertained us as we crossed along the immense volcanic “shoulders” of Cocos Island down to 300m/1000ft.
Coming back to the platform, near the huge rocks located between 150m/500ft to 180m/600ft, we saw an octopus “dancing” on the sand, huge groupers, moray eel swirling from hole to hole, frogfishes in their perfect camouflage (including a very cute baby one), brotulas, king crabs, nudibranchs and scorpionfishes.
On our shallow dive we were accompanied by a 7m/23ft whaleshark for around 40 minutes!!! It was so exciting!!!
Our passengers were infectious with their enthusiasm for ocean exploration, and asked us to show them all that we know of Cocos Island’s deep waters. We gladly obliged, and thanks to them every dive was full of fun and wonder. We hope every trip will be with such marine life activity and passengers who will share our same love to the abyss.
See you all on the next trip,
The pilots.
Awesome! A really great experience. I didn’t feel scared at all, just full of wonder as seeing these creatures and landscapes that so few people are privileged to see.
This experience is really like no other and beyond imagination. To be able to see life that exists beyond the limits of recreational diving gives one a more complete picture of the under-sea world and experienced first-hand. The submarine pilot (Arik) provided very informative narration guiding us through the depths. This is an experience that should not be passed up.
Arik is a spectacular captain. He has a gifted speaker who never seemed to miss about when showing us the deep-water creatures. He is very educated about the species and their behavior. You could tell he has been to these spots many times as he knew what creatures we could expect next. Him and his crew ran a well-maintained sub and every part of the journey went smooth.
Definitely a once in a lifetime experience.
Exhilarating ride down to 1000ft!
We saw species we have never seen before and had a Mobula ray fly-by
It’s a great experience to be 300m underwater and have a glimpse at the vast and mysterious depths of the ocean.
In the hand of Arik and the crew we felt absolutely safe and comfortable at all times.
Thanks for giving us the opportunity to enjoy such an outstanding dive.
