Hello there to all the world’s most adventurous people!

This trip we had some fantastic deep sea explorers joining us on our journeys to the depths of the ocean. We encountered a silky shark at the depth of 250 meters, and we had some beautiful mobulas hovering above us as well!

Back on the platform (at about 170-200 meters) we saw an octopus camouflaging and changing its color and the texture of its skin as we got closer to it. We saw a batfish with fake eyes on its back “walking” along the bottom. We also encountered an amazingly beautiful nudibranch at 165 meters deep, in dark blue waters. A nudibranch that had FLAMES on its back! Sometimes the smallest creatures can be the most fascinating, with their small and gentle details.

We also discovered various kinds of crabs including spider crabs, king crabs and two other types of decorated crabs.  The decorated crabs normally hold/ attach themselves to some object in order to camouflage itself – this object varies but can often be a leaf, a sponge, or even coral!

Thank you to all who came with us to explore the deep waters of Cocos Island. We enjoyed our immersions with each and every one of you!

Hope to see you again soon,

The pilots.
