Argo
The quantity and variety of marine life at Cocos Island never ceases to amaze us! We experienced lots of biodiversity this expedition (and some pretty strong currents this week, which only added to the sense of adventure).
Our very first day at the island we were diving in great visibility with Galapagos sharks, tigers and hammerheads. About 12 marble rays huddled together in a cave at Manuelita Outside’s 3rd cleaning station. We also saw tiger sharks all around Manuelita Island this trip (on one dive in Manuelita Channel we saw 4-5 different tiger sharks on a single immersion, some of which were pregnant!).
There were jacks EVERYWHERE at Dirty Rock, and on one of our favorite dives there we saw a giant manta that passed by a couple of times. We also encountered schools of 30-40 hammerheads, and an extremely social green turtle at the safety stop!
Tuna, blacktips, Galapagos and silkies hunted around Alcyone, and we witnessed a huge school of hammerheads floating above us at the cleaning station.
Overall, Alcyone was one of our favorite dive sites this week, and other highlights included blacktips hunting alongside lightning-fast yellowfin tuna and Galapagos sharks.
Small Dos Amigos showed us many Galapagos and blacktip sharks cruising into the cleaning station, and playful dolphins came and swam around us for quite a long time. The Arch at Big Dos Amigos had a group of marble rays hovering beneath it, as well as lots of fish and a silvertip in the blue. The swim-through at Submerged Rock was also bursting with life, and at the end of the dive we swam among an enormous school of jacks.
On afternoon dives at Pajara we saw all kinds of macro life including 2 seahorses and several mantis shrimp. Manuelita Coral Garden was fantastic for spotting bright orange frogfish. Viking rock showed us tiger and silvertip sharks.
Our last dive of the expedition at Alcyone we had a spectacular time with so many blacktips, tuna and silky sharks exhibiting hunting behavior. A perfect end to a perfect week!
Close interaction with black tips, tiger sharks, marble rays and dolphines. Alcyone and Dirty Rock were highlights of our diving. Lot of action. Sometimes challenging current, but definitely unforgetable diving experience. Amazing crew, super helpful, great food, 10 points to Carlos and Chaco!!
The whole experience were excellent. Very well planned in every step. Unforgattable experience.
All the dives were excellent. The crew is phenomenal and service on the Argo is excellent. My favourite dive was when I saw the school of hammerheads at Alcyone. Fabulous! The crew made our journey very comfortable and went to every extent to make this an enjoyable trip.
Loved Dirty Rock, Alcyone and small Dos Amigos! Amazing dives sites i could dive everyday…All the Crew were amazing. The Argo is an amazing liveaboard dive boat and i would 100% go again. Overall an awesome experiance with only good things to say!
The staff looked after us very well and the food was good with a nice variety. I did not have a dive i was disappointed in and the variety of sea life was fantastic.
Staff was amazing! Chako, Chino and Ariel made my trip special
