Sea Hunter
Cocos Island is on FIRE!! We saw sharks on every dive this week – sharks, sharks and more sharks!
Our first dive at Dirty Rock was unbelievable. We had nonstop hammerhead cleaning station action near the rock – an explosion of hammerheads both clinging to the rock and schooling out in the blue. In total, our dive guide estimates we saw over 500+ individuals. All week long this was one of our favorite sites. We saw tiger sharks up close and personal (some 10-15ft long!) and an octopus swimming around and changing colors.
We encountered schooling hammerheads at Manuelita Outside, as well as tiger sharks and hammers at the cleaning station. Later in the week we also saw tiger sharks, pregnant Galapagos sharks, and mobulas. At Manuelita Channel we observed a hawksbill sea turtle, as well as a gorgeous silvertip during the safety stop. The Channel was definitely one of the hotspots to see tiger sharks this week!
Punta Maria was a bit difficult at times due to strong current, but we did see sharks there and at one point a manta ray. Alcycone showed us blacktips weaving in and out of the hammerheads at the cleaning stations, as well as several sizable tunas and a few silkies out in the blue. Afternoon dives at Ulloa brought hammerheads, frogfish, and hawksbill sea turtles. We also saw frogfish at Manuelita Coral Garden.
Dos Amigos Grande was incredible – we spent at least 15 minutes in the blue with the “friendliest school of hammerheads” that one of our seasoned dive guides has ever seen. They came in very close to the group, happily posing for photos and videos. Dos Amigos Pequeno was also bursting with activity – we saw sharks for every single minute of the dive (more hammerheads, Galapagos and blacktips than we can count!). What a phenomenal season at Cocos Island!!
Scuba diving at Isla de Coco’s is a rich peligic experience filled with biodiversity. The diving is world class. Not one dive disappionted and every dive exibited hammerhead activity. For me, Manualita Out was THE, epic hammerhead experience. SeaHunter ship board facilities nicely accomodate this open water, scuba diving experience. The food was excellent, a product of Chico’s love and passion as chef! The dinner he prepared for my birthday far exceded my expectations. Kudos to the entire staff however, there are two crew members who really stood out. Roberto is an outstanding cruise director but his real strength shines underwater. And Pollito who took care of all head stew responsibilities with grace, acute awareness and attention to detail. Thank you to all for exceeding my expectations!
All dive sites were incredible. We especially enjoyed Small Dos Amigos, Dirty Rock, and Manuelita Out. Our time at Cocos Island surpassed our expectations due to the professionalism, kindness, and humorous nature of all the staff members. They truly made the trip fun, safe, and comfortable. We were in great hands with Captain Raul at the helm. And, Director Roberto really brought everyone together in a fun way every day. To say we ate well is an understatement! Geovany and Ian are exceptional dive masters – making all our dive experieces the very best – our yellow team ruled!
World class Diving operation that runs like a perfected program. All the divemasters are some of the best i have dove with. We got to dive all the sites everyone wanted with no problems. The best dive site was dirty rock with giant schools of hammers and a pod of dolphins on the last day. I wouldnt change anything when it comes to the diving side of things. The ship staff was excellent. The chef and his team are very well versed in all foods and the food was better and better each and everyday. Pollito was amazing and he is a great addition to the boat.
Roberto was an amazing cruise director and was very knowledgable. He could answer any questions we had. Nito showed us what years of experience underwater at cocos can do for the people that love to make videos. Luis and Ian were on their best to accomidate anyome and everyone while underwater. The rest of the crew were amazing, all with their own skills that add tons pedigree to the undersea hunter program.
D- rock was AMAZING! It was like a hammerhead shark runway, one after another, after another. Staff was very professional.
Cocos island was amazing this trip. We had great hammerhead action as well as tiger sharks at almost every divesite. We had great conditons throughout the trip. My favorite dive site was Dirty Rock but seeing the giant Manta Ray at Punta Maria was awesome. On the last day we dove Dirty Rock and had a pod of dolphins that were hanging around with us for the dive which made for a great way to end the trip. Cant wait to come back!! Everything was top noch from the food to the staff. The ship is in great condition and everyone is very proffessional and friendly as well. Gio and Ian were our dive masters and they were great. The entire trip was awesome and the crew far exceded everyone’s needs. Keep up the great work and I cant wait to be back hopefully soon! Pura Vida!!!
The diving is surreal. It’s surreal. Difficult to describe to even a seasoned diver. We were told the best was the least was the least the staff wanted us to experience. I thought that was a clever slogan. I now feel that it is whst i experienced. The food, the staff, the diving was not only exceptional, it was more and more fun through out yhe week. If you haven’t been, go. I can’t wait for my next trip
Dirty Rock was fantastic along with Dos Amigos Pequeño and Manuelita Out. Great action at all the cleaning stations. Roberto was an excellent cruise director and a great divemaster along with Luis. Balin continues to be the best skiff operator and he even joined us in the water a few times. The food was delicious and we were fed very well. A great trip yet again for me!
