Argo
It felt so good to finally be back at Cocos! Coming back here after almost 3 months exploring faraway waters (we were out on one special project with Nat Geo Pristine Seas, followed immediately by another special expedition with the Smithsonian!), Cocos gave us fantastic “welcome back home” dives with the DeepSee. It almost seemed like the marine life at the depths of the island missed us… 😉
Mobula rays were “flying” in pairs directly towards the cabin’s window on every dive, Galapagos, silky shark & yellowfin tunas followed in the same manner. Crabs were found “munching” on tunicates at the bottom. Groupers were “hovering” on top of the window for what seemed like forever, watching us inside the sub and wondering what are we up to as we wondered the same about them.
On this trip we accomplished 16 dives. 10 of them were used to finish training a new pilot in our family, Mike Zintel, who passed the training in flying colors and even moved on to pilot another 4 commercial dives with his passengers coming out super happy. Congratulations Mike!!
We will return out to the island again on the June 13th-23rd 2022 trip on the Argo. We hope to see you all on board to once in a life time experience to the deep waters of Cocos.
Greetings.
The pilots.
