We’ve just returned from another fantastic dive expedition to Cocos Island, Costa Rica!

One of our best dives of the week happened at Porites Bay, a newer dive site for us. We saw at least 8 graceful silvertips during the dive, including newborns, juveniles, and adults, with one appearing to be pregnant. Near the end of this dive, we also encountered a huge 4-meter tiger shark.

At Dirty Rock, the cleaning stations were buzzing with activity, especially with the schooling hammerheads in the open water. Sometimes, when we looked up, we saw what looked like a ceiling of hammerheads above us.

At Manuelita Coral Garden, the dive was marked by sightings of hammerheads, orange frogfish, and a variety of colorful fish species.

Small Dos Amigos has been particularly active this season. We saw a steady stream of Galapagos sharks and hammerheads coming to be cleaned, and the highlight was a massive school of hammerheads in the open water.

At Manuelita Channel, the strong current made our dive more exciting. We saw hammerheads at cleaning stations, eagle rays, reef fish, and a large school of jacks. At Manuelita Outside, visibility was excellent, allowing us to see yellowfin tuna hunting, dolphins, and hammerheads. We also saw jacks mating and encountered some playful dolphins at the safety stop.

Lastly, Alcyone gave us an incredible show of shark activity, with numerous hammerheads, a blacktip, and more schools of hammerheads in the open water.

Everything about the undersea hunter experience has been superb. The dive where we met the silver tips was certainly a highlight, particularly when a curious tiger shark said hello on our safety stop. The dense shoals of big eyed jacks were a highlight too, particularly when we saw dolphins hunting them. The Galapagos sharks cruising around the boat in the evening were also amazing. It’s been a great trip. Great wildlife in a great location for sure, but also great food, great service and an utterly exceptional dive team on the blue panga. Roberto, Diego and Pipi took great care to help us in all sorts of ways to get the maximum from our trip, and do it safely. Their enthusiasm, support and – in a moment of uncertainty with a tiger shark – bravery was all above and beyond.

This is the second time we’ve had a great time diving on Cocos Island with your team. New impressions, new experiences and a lot of adrenaline during the sharks encounters. I’d never seen a tiger shark up so close. Chasing group of hammerheads and other sharks gave our dives an extra thrill.
We didn’t even miss the beautiful frogfish – one yellow and two red.
The professional approach and acceptance of the not-so-good in our group meant we head a great time together.
The 8 days of diving passed in the blink of an eye.

Porites bay, Manuelita deep/channel roca sucia small dos amigos …getting to have close contact with silver tips and Galapagos sharks for the first time was incredible not to mention all of the hammers!

Cocos Island didn’t disappoint, with an abundance of life and great dive sites. Large quantities of Hammerheads, Galapagos and a very interesting Tiger shark encounter. This is definitely one of the best dive sites in the world. Very comfortable. The staff are extremely attentive and go out of their way to make you feel welcome and ensure your trip is unforgettable. The food great as well. A special mention to the Dive guides. They truly went above and beyond to give us the best possible experience. Truly proffesional.

The diving was amazing, the best ever dive trip after more than 20 years of diving. Sharks on every dive, huge shoals of hammerheads, Tiger shark and dolphin’s. The dive crew on our panga were fantastic Roberto, Pipi and Deago. They went over and above to give us fantastic diving and to keep us safe I can’t recommend them enough. All of the crew have been fantastic they are so helpful, happy and want you to enjoy your time
