Sea Hunter
We started the trip off with a bang with a gorgeous check-out dive in Chatham Bay. We almost immediately encountered a beautiful silver tip shark, a truly gigantic moray eel with an unbelievably large mouth, hammerheads coming in here and there, and lots of reef fish. Next, we went to Manuelita Channel, where we saw a massive female Galapagos shark, some dispersed hammerheads, and four yellowfin tuna. Toward the end, we found a small school of about 25 hammerheads swimming in formation.
On Day 2 at Manuelita Outside, we saw many Galapagos sharks at the first cleaning station, more yellowfin tuna and hammerheads, and marble rays. The Coral Garden gave us encounters with impressive tiger sharks, as well as silver tips at the safety stop. We saw at least five species of sharks on this single dive.
Dirty Rock was full of life, with solid cleaning station action. Hammerheads filed into the cleaning station, and the water was crystal clear. One of the highlights of this dive was the giant school of jacks at the end! This was followed by a school of over 100+ hammerheads as we drifted out into the blue.
On Day 3, we jump-started the day at Manuelita Outside again. A massive tiger shark greeted us at the sandy bottom, as well as hammerheads and an orange frogfish at the rock. At the second cleaning station, we observed a giant manta ray, lots of hammerheads streaming by in small groups, and a blacktip or two. Out in the blue, we saw another giant school of 150+ hammerheads and a Galapagos shark that buzzed by us super close.
Alcyone was incredible as always! We had Galapagos sharks circling us and passing super close, and lots of hammerhead cleaning station activity. We saw blacktip sharks and — twice on a single dive — absolutely huge schools of hammerheads out in the blue.
Small Dos Amigos was excellent, with lots of activity! We saw 6 different species of sharks on a single dive: a massive female tiger shark, a silver tip, three blacktips, hammerheads, and constant Galapagos shark action (and we can’t forget the whitetip reef sharks!). The cherry on top was the pod of dolphins out in the blue. There was just nonstop action here.
As usual, Dirty Rock offered up world-class diving. The cleaning station was on fire. Tiger sharks out in the blue beside a school of hammerheads. It was magnificent. Galapagos sharks at the cleaning station, a manta ray, and mobula near the surface. Add to that the incredible visibility, and this was unsurprisingly one of our favorite dive spots this week.
Porites, one of the new dive sites, gave us encounters with silvertips and blacktips at the cleaning station, as well as mobula rays, a hawksbill sea turtle, and some hammerheads at the safety stop. Lobster Rock had tiger sharks, eagle rays, and frogfish, as well as a beautiful harlequin shrimp eating a starfish for the macro lovers in our group.
What an unforgettable Cocos Island adventure!!!
Celebrated my 100th dive with Undersea Hunter. Guided by Hector & Diego we dropped into Punta Maria, to be greeted by two Manta rays that stayed with us the entire dive! The manta even swam toward each other until they pulled up and spun away into opposite directions. Like a ballet underwater! We even saw some sharks, LoL!
Schools and close encounters with hammerheads, mantas, FAR better rocky small fish life than expected for those who also love macro. Favorites were Alcyon & Manuelita Out. Dirty Rock was also quite great but not as active on our week as others who have been described. The food and crew were all amazing.
Amazing dive sites , wonderful experiences watching the Hammers,Mantas, Tigers and Galapagos Sharks with some Silver tips. Dive guilds Diego and Hector are superb and great leaders. Staff and food excellent, staff friendly and courteous! Dive boat very nice but may e need an update, not complaining as I am here for diving. Room very clean and, although toilet was smelly at times.
Exceeded expectations – Chico’s food was amazing (often way too much) the service & rooms fantastic thanks to Pollito. Dive masters & deck crew fabulously friendly professional and always available to help. Weather prevented access to some sights but generally fantastic – Alcyone & Manuelita especially stood out for the Manta & huge schools of Hammerhead sharks often seen on ascent / safety stops
My husband and I have had this trip on our bucket list for many years and it did not disappoint. The rugged beauty of the island is breath taking. The dives were absolutely amazing with an incredible abundance and diversity of sea life including schools of hammerheads, Galapagos sharks, silver, black tip sharks, marble rays and mantas to name a few. We were also blessed to see a breaching humpback whale and several pods of dolphins. Our room on the boat was spacious and very comfortable. The staff were excellent providing delicious food and promptly making up the rooms every day. Our dive guides, Diego and Hector were experienced and knowledgeable adding to the whole dive experience. I would not hesitate to recommend the Undersea hunter and Cocos Island as a dive destination. Thanks to all the staff for providing a lovely vacation.
Roca Sucia and Alcyone were excellent. As well as Manuelita. Loads of sea life. Loads of sharks and the schools of hammerheads were impressive. Captain Raul is awesome, very safe and responsible.
Roberto is the best director I have come across. Very knowledgeable and accommodating.
Chico’s food is excellent.
Dive masters Hector and Diego are very easy going, responsible and excellent in their roles.
Pollito is a hard worker, always available and with a great attitude.
Gilberto, Luis, Rafa and Emanuel are awesome.
Excellcrew who provide an amazing environment.
What a fun adventure! Tigers, Galapagos, Black and Silver tips, and of course the hundreds of hammerheads! Mantas, Golden cownose, Eagle and marble rays – so much variety to enjoy every day. I am sure I am missing many wonderful creatures on my list but all amazing. Captain Raul and crew are simply the best out there, so thankful for every one of them and all they do! Mucho Gracias to all!
All the sites were spectacular, but my favorites were Dirty Rock, Punta María,
Manuelita Out and Alcyone. We saw a beautifully marked young Tiger female swim through us at Alcyone, inquisitive Oceanic Mantas at Punta María and Dirty Rock and the iconic huge school of Hammerheads at Manuelita Out. Some came so close you could almost touch them and see into their eyes. They seemed to be wondering what we were doing. This was truly a magical experience. Our dive masters, Hector and Diego were super calm and I felt very secure and comfortable with them leading. Our group was also great fun. Can not speak more highly. This was amazing. The accommodation was very comfortable. I had plenty of room and an en-suite bathroom with lovely hot water. The beds were made daily and towels changed. There were fresh towels, fresh fruit and bakery good after the dives. The food was very good and varied. Too much on offer if anything. All the staff went out of their way to help and make our experience great.
Dirty Rock produced the quintessential Hammerhead experience with numerous sharks at each cleaning station as well as a huge school with Hammerheads to the right and left, in front and back and below us. It was amazing! We saw Hammerheads on nearly every dive! The trip exceeded all expectations! Thank you Roberto and Sea Hunter. The ship provided a nice home away from home. The food was yummy and plentiful. Our cabin was well maintained. The lounge was a great place to relax or play games.
Manuelita out/channel 1st cleaning station was the best. So many hammerheads! ¡Muy bien! Greetings from all the hardcore divers Greece (from Germany) . One of my best trips so far, I will come back. Roberto was best ❤️and the rest too, of course ❤️
