Now for the trip highlights:
After a smooth crossing, we were greeted by a huge array of biodiversity on our check out dive at Cocos Island! Over the course of the week we saw schooling hammerheads out in the blue (especially at Alcyone and Dirty Rock), tiger sharks surrounding Manuelita Island and a whale shark at Submerged Rock.
Other highlights included frogfish in Manuelita Channel and Galapagos sharks mixed with hammerheads at Dos Amigos. We saw dolphins on our way to Alcyone, then hammerheads and huge schools of jacks once we got there. We also saw devil rays out in the blue at Manuelita and Alcyone, and two massive tiger sharks near the arch at Big Dos Amigos.
Average water temperature was about 80ºF (27ºC) with thermocline at about 98 ft (30m). One afternoon we disembarked at Wafer Bay and enjoyed clear water and sunny weather. All in all, this was another marvelous trip to the most magical island on Earth!
