Our first day at Cocos, we had our check-out dive in Chatham Bay — where we saw a multitude of snappers, bluefin trevallies, and whitetip reef sharks. Our dives in Manuelita Out and Channel had good visibility, and a tiger shark sighting near the sandy bottom only heightened our a sense of excitement.

The next day, we embarked on a remarkable dive at Dirty Rock, where a group of six dolphins joined us during our safety stop! Punta Maria lacked cleaning-station activity, but still fascinated us with hammerhead shark sightings near the pinnacle and abundant marine life (like wahoos and dolphins). On our afternoon dive at Pajara, we saw many lobsters and whitetip reef sharks.

Day 3 we swam alongside a massive school of jacks at Manuelita Outside, and we came face-to-face with an enormous mobula ray gracefully gliding through the water at Alcyone. Day 4 we explored Small Dos Amigos with fantastic visibility, with encounters with Galapagos and blacktip sharks. Dirty Rock proved lively, with hammerhead sharks actively utilizing the cleaning stations, plus a school of jacks and a juvenile tiger shark swimming in the distance. Manuelita Coral Garden was full of hammerheads taking advantage of the cleaning station.

On the 5th day, our dive in Manuelita Outside unfolded with a breathtaking spectacle of schooling jacks and four elegant mobula rays soaring in the vast blue waters. Although relatively quiet in terms of shark sightings, Alcyone thrived with schools of jacks, mullet snappers, and agile yellowfin tunas hunting their prey. Day 6 started with an incredible dive at Small Dos Amigos, where Galapagos sharks and a magnificent tiger shark graced us with their presence in the deep waters. Curious hammerheads swam in the distance and a graceful mobula ray danced through the currents. Our dive in Big Dos Amigos posed some challenges due to strong winds and rain, but we remained undeterred, braving the conditions to observe a multitude of fish species, an elegant eagle ray, and a glorious mobula ray.

On our final day, our first dive at Dirty Rock surpassed expectations. We were greeted by a stream of hammerhead sharks utilizing the cleaning stations, alongside a vibrant school of jacks and a graceful silver tip shark cruising along in the blue expanse. Finally, our last dive at Manuelita Channel presented us with the spectacle of two frogfish, a black tip reef shark, and more hammerheads.

As our adventure drew to a close, we embarked on a calm crossing back to Puntarenas, reflecting on our incredible experiences in the mesmerizing underwater world of Cocos Island.
