Sea Hunter

Eagle Ray by Steffen
We’re just back from another trip to Cocos Island!
We set sail from Puntarenas with a diverse group of divers from Germany, the US, Italy and Colombia. The crossing was a bit choppy, but as soon as we got to Cocos Island conditions were wonderful.
During our check out dive, we got us up close to marble rays as well as many species of colorful fish. Our second dive at Manuelita Channel, there was a LOT of current and a massive school of jacks — there were millions upon millions of them! — clinging to the rock for protection from the current. At the safety stop, a huge tiger shark passed close to us near the sand.
Dirty Rock was full of jacks, hammerheads coming into the cleaning station beneath us and at the end in the blue a school of 50+ hammerheads. On one of our favorite divs there, a beautiful sea turtle that came in very close — all followed by a school of 50+ hammerheads that passed by us overhead.
Punta Maria showed us Galapagos sharks on the plateau and hunting whitetip reef sharks. On afternoon dives at Pajara, we observed many types of endemic fish and a seahorse.
At Alcyone we saw many Galapagos and blacktips, followed by tuna and hammerheads passing overhead. We also encountered a school of jacks and mullet snappers followed by a giant manta ray that came in close to say hello! At one point there were many Galapagos sharks pursuing a female and coming in super close to our divers. This was one of the best dive sites this week for photo and video ops.
Back at Manuelita Channel, we observed blacktips and eagle rays (and the absolutely immense school of jacks again!).
Small Dos Amigos was on fire, and on one of our best dives there we spent 45 minutes sitting in front of the cleaning station watching the hammerheads and Galapagos sharks stream in to be cleaned.

This week was awesome! My favourite dive sites were Small Dos Amigos and Manuelita Coral Garden. It was so amazing seeing hammerheads on almost every dive. The best had to be the dolphins on one of our last safety stops though! Everything was great. The crew was amazing. The crew are absolutely incredible and I will be back for sure.

There where so many different forms of life,it was a magical experience and something i would absolutly love to do again. Definetly “Smal los amigos” was the best dive ive ever done, we saw countless sea animals and corals. Dolphins whas the best one for me or the whale shark wich i never imagined to be that big. The food was awesome, there is such a big viraiety of food, its a buffet so we could eat what ever we wanted on all of the 3 foods, the times we ate where also perfect because they did them acording to the dives. There is also food advaiable at all times, you just have to ask or you can grab them from a table on the main room. The dining room is just the right size and while you can eat alone you can share an amazing dinner with new people. The staff is always willing to help you everywhere you go. I loved everything and everyone it was one of the best experiences ive had in my life so i thank everyone for making this trip the best one ever.

Fantastico! Soy muy felíz de poder haber vivido esa experiencia inolvidable. Pude ver el tiburón ballena más grande que haya visto, encontrar caballito de mar fue muy especial y ver como los delfines nos despidieran en el último buceo es lo máximo.

We had a couple of really great dives where the shark action was non stop. You didnt know where to look! The staff is fantastic. Our dive boat crew (Merlin, Rafa, and Lulu) were absolutely amazing. Very professional, knowledgeable, helpful, skilled. Onboard Javier made sure we always had everything we needed. All the crew was great. And I was really impressed when there was a medical issue and we had to leave early that the crew handled it with calm urgency.
