Sea Hunter
Days 1-2
Our first few days at Cocos Island presented us with some challenging dive conditions, but that only added to our sense of adventure! The first day of diving at Manuelita Coral Garden and Outside ushered in a variety of colorful fish and some hammerheads. The following day we went to Dirty Rock where we saw a few hammerheads, some eagle rays and Galapagos sharks.
Day 3-4
On the third day, with a strong current at Alcyone, we were met by a school of hammerheads and spent a glorious 20 minutes amidst a sizable school of 100+ individuals. We encountered a beautiful sea turtle at Viking Rock, as well as a frogfish. Our visit to Big Dos Amigos had to be canceled due to strong currents, so instead we went to Manuelita Outside where we saw numerous macro species including lobsters, moray eels, and many types of fish. We also saw a silvertip at Small Dos Amigos and many whitetips at Pajara.
Day 5-6
Day five began with hammerheads navigating through the thermocline at Dirty Rock, as well as Galapagos sharks and eagle rays. A massive school of jacks near the pinnacle graciously permitted us to come in really close for photos, which was just magical! At Pan de Azucar we saw a gorgeous silvertip, a big Galapagos, a mobula ray and lots of reef fish.
The sixth day was undoubtedly the highlight of the trip. At Alcyone, a group of more than 80+ hammerheads drifted in the blue. Not just that, we were also lucky to spot 2 tiger sharks, a Galapagos shark, a silvertip shark, a marbled ray, and a frogfish. Later in the day, Manuelita Outside presented a stunningly choreographed display of hammerheads mere meters from us. Incredible!
Day 7-8
The seventh day’s highlights included a tiger shark at Alcyone and a giant manta ray at Dirty Rock. Despite the hammerhead activity being a bit on quiet side today, a large school of jacks made up for it.
On our final day, we returned to Alcyone for our first dive. Towards the end we found a group of about 30+ hammerheads out in the blue. For our last dive at Dirty Rock, we encountered an absolutely giant manta and an enormous school of jacks very close to the pinnacle. The cherry on top was the group of five dolphins that surprised us at the safety stop, wrapping up the trip on an exhilarating note.
What an unforgettable adventure! From the large schools of hammerheads to the playful dolphins, every day held a new surprise.
One of my best liveaboard experiences. Despite poor weather condition, the crew tried best to show us the best side of Cocos Island.Favorite site is Alcoyne. And most unforgettable marine life is the Tiger Shark.
Our favorite dive site is Alcyone. You always have surprises, a surprise every minute 😉 our preference was meeting hammerhead sharks. High quality of service and food. The entire team is friendly and doing is best to make our trip incredible. The cabin was the most comfortable we have had in all the diving safaris we made in the past.
